Cleaning

Cleaning and polishing the outside, or dusting and vacuuming the insides, or cleaning the soundboard under the strings, or cleaning up a rodent waste problem. Hourly rate.

It’s easy to neglect how your piano looks on the inside. Dust and grime can build up. While a clean piano won’t sound different, it will definitely look better.  The longer dust stays on a wood surface, the harder it is to remove. A light cleaning might take only 20-60 minutes, whereas some pianos are so dirty that it takes much longer.

The owner can clean certain things in the piano without causing damage to any of the delicate parts. (John will gladly teach you how!) But special care is needed around the dampers and strings.  It’s often more convenient to let your piano technician clean and “detail” the whole piano for you.
If you notice dust under the strings, it’s time to get that soundboard clean and shiny again.
